Spiro-Hub Project | Innovative eHealth solution for sleep monitoring
Spiro-Hub is a project aimed at developing an innovative eHealth device that enables the identification of sleep-related disorders by monitoring respiratory and cardiac parameters in a simple and non-invasive way.
Polysomnography, the current gold standard for diagnosing sleep disorders, is often complicated by the use of invasive sensors and bulky wiring, which can be uncomfortable for the patient and slow down the measurement process. Spiro-Hub eliminates the need for wires and invasive devices, offering a more practical, reliable, and comfortable solution for diagnostics.
The project, which started in March 2024, was born from the synergy between MIR - Medical International Research S.p.A. and the Department of Civil and Computer Engineering (DICII) of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
Spiro-Hub actively involves leading industrial partners specialized in the field of sensors and advanced diagnostics: RADIO6ENSE, LEAF, Mecstar Srl, and Akros BioScience Srl.
The project has been funded by Lazio Innova within the FESR Lazio 2021-2027 program, with a contribution of €291,714.14, with the goal of promoting the development of advanced technological solutions in the healthcare sector.
This funding has accelerated research and the industrialization of the device, positioning MIR and its partners as key players in Made in Italy innovation.
Beyond applications in sleep medicine, Spiro-Hub could be further explored in other fields such as sports medicine and performance assessment.
Spiro-Hub will be able to:
Monitor vital parameters through non-invasive, low-power sensors, ensuring wireless operation.
Identify respiratory and cardiac disorders quickly and effectively.
Manage and display collected data intuitively and accessibly for healthcare professionals and patients.
Use Artificial Intelligence algorithms to process and analyze variations in vital parameters, facilitating rapid and accurate diagnosis.
